Safety and Effectiveness Evaluation of iCover Covered Stent for the Treatment of the Aorto-iliac Occlusive Disease

This study is all about a new treatment for a common condition called Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD). PAD happens when your arteries, which are the blood vessels that carry blood from your heart to your limbs, become narrowed and hardened. In this particular study, they are focusing on the iliac arteries, which are major blood vessels in your pelvis that supply blood to your legs. When these arteries narrow, it can cause symptoms like pain or cramping in your legs, especially when you walk. This is often called 'claudication.' In more severe cases, it can cause pain even when you're resting, or lead to sores that don't heal.

The new treatment being looked at is called an iCover covered stent. A stent is a small, mesh-like tube that doctors place inside a narrowed artery to keep it open. A 'covered' stent has a special fabric-like material on its outside, which acts as a barrier. The idea behind this specific study is to see how well the iCover covered stent works and how safe it is for people with significant narrowing in their iliac arteries. They want to check if it helps keep the blood flowing, eases symptoms, and reduces the chance of the artery narrowing again over time.

This is an 'observational' study, which means that participants will receive the iCover stent as part of their treatment, and doctors will then closely monitor their progress over a period of two years. They'll be looking at things like whether the artery stays open, if symptoms improve, and if there are any side effects.
