Mental Health of Professionals of the Silver Economy of New Aquitaine : Online Survey of Accommodation Establishments for Old People and Home Assistance Establishments
This study, called "Mental Health of Professionals of the Silver Economy of New Aquitaine", explored the mental well-being of healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically, it focused on staff in care homes for older people and those providing home help services in the New Aquitaine region of France. Researchers used online questionnaires to find out how many of these workers experienced mental health problems, what made them vulnerable or resilient, and how to improve access to early support. The main goal was to understand the psychological impact of the pandemic on these vital professionals and help them get the care they might need.
At a glance
What is this study about?
The COVID-19 pandemic was a challenging time for everyone, especially for healthcare professionals. This study aimed to understand how working during the pandemic affected the mental health of staff in care homes for older people and those who provide care in people's own homes in a part of France called New Aquitaine.
The researchers used online surveys to ask these workers about their experiences. They wanted to find out how many people were showing signs of mental health issues due to the pandemic and to identify factors that might make some people more vulnerable to stress, while others were more resilient. Ultimately, a key goal was to understand these issues better so that affected professionals could get help sooner.
This study is important because these care professionals play a crucial role in looking after vulnerable people. Understanding the challenges they faced can help us to better support them in the future and ensure they have access to the mental health care they might need. The findings from studies like this can inform better support systems for workers in social and health care settings, not just in New Aquitaine but potentially in other places too.
