The MOMENTUM Study: The Multiple Outcome Evaluation of Radiation Therapy Using the MR-Linac Study
The MOMENTUM Study is tracking how a new type of advanced radiotherapy, called MR-Linac, works for people with different cancers. It aims to see if this treatment improves survival, controls cancer better, and enhances quality of life by using highly precise radiation guidance.

Robotic vs. TaTME Rectal Surgery (ROTA STUDY)
This study compares two advanced surgical methods for rectal cancer (keyhole and robotic surgery) in patients with cancer in the lower bowel. It aims to see which is better in terms of recovery and long-term results, using experienced surgeons.

Pre-therapeutic MRI Assessment of Early-Stage Rectal Cancer and Significant Rectal Polyps to Avoid Major Resectional Surgery
This study aims to improve how MRI scans identify early bowel cancer. By training doctors to spot these cancers better, more patients could have a simpler local procedure, avoiding major surgery and helping them keep their bowel.

Colonic Intramural Injections of Botulin toxin versus placebo to treat fragmented defecation and urgency after restorative total mesorectal excision (TME) for rectal cancer
This study is looking at whether a special injection, similar to Botox, can help people who have problems with their bowel movements after surgery for rectal cancer. It compares the injection to a dummy treatment to see if it makes a difference.

Advanced Pelvic Surgical Oncology Database - Prospective Observational Study
This study looks at people in Glasgow having complex surgery for cancers in the tummy and pelvis, like bowel or gynaecological cancers. We're observing their recovery and health over time to understand common problems and improve future care.

Systemic Neoadjuvant and adjuvant Control by Precision medicine in rectal cancer (SYNCOPE) – approach on high-risk group to reduce metastases
This study, called SYNCOPE, looks at new ways to treat advanced bowel cancer (rectal cancer) to stop it from coming back. It uses special medicine combinations for people at high risk to improve their chances of staying cancer-free.

Use of a Novel Camera to Check the Bowel After Polyp or Tumour Removal
This study is testing a new, smaller camera called a 'rectoscope' to check the lower bowel after polyps or small cancers have been removed. It aims to make these important checks easier and quicker, using a simple enema instead of strong bowel preparation, to help reduce waiting lists.

Magnetic Resonance Tumour Regression Grade (mrTRG) as a Novel Biomarker - Phase III Non CTIMP Trial
This study looks at a new way to check how well rectal cancer treatment works using special MRI scans. It aims to see if some patients can avoid surgery and instead be carefully watched, improving their quality of life.

Circulating Tumour DNA (ctDNA) in Patients With Colorectal Cancer and the Relationship to Imaging Features of Extramural Venous Invasion
This study looks at a new way to understand bowel cancer spread. We're taking blood samples from patients having surgery for bowel cancer to see if blood changes can tell us more about how the cancer might spread through blood vessels. This could help improve how we treat bowel cancer in the future.

Next Generation StaR TREC - Save the rectum by watchful waiting after (chemo)Radiotherapy or Total mesorectal excision for early REctal Cancer?
This study is for people with early rectal cancer. It's looking at whether some patients can avoid a major operation by having chemotherapy and then being closely watched, instead of surgery. It aims to see how many patients respond well to this 'watch and wait' approach.
