Who may be eligible?
To be part of this study, you need to be a healthy person between 18 and 55 years old. You should have good veins that are suitable for taking blood samples or having a drip inserted. Your body mass index (BMI) – a measure of weight in relation to height – should be between 18 and 30, and you must weigh at least 50 kilograms.
If you are a woman who could become pregnant, you must have a negative pregnancy test before starting the study and agree to use highly effective birth control throughout the study and for a period afterwards. Men must also agree to use adequate birth control and not donate sperm during the study and for a specified time after the last dose.
There are also some reasons you wouldn't be able to join. What does participation involve?
If you decide to take part, you'll first have a 'screening' visit, which can last up to 28 days. During this time, we'll check your general health to make sure you're suitable for the study. This will involve physical examinations, blood tests, and other health checks.
Once accepted, you'll then go through three treatment periods. During these periods, you'll receive AZD4144 on its own, itraconazole on its own, and then AZD4144 together with itraconazole. You'll either receive AZD4144 as a drink or as a drip into your arm (intravenous infusion). The study is 'open-label', which means both you and the study staff will know which medicine you're taking. You'll be randomly assigned to one of two groups.
Throughout these treatment periods, the study team will take blood samples regularly to measure how the medicines are moving through your body.
