Weight and Metabolic Management Study

This study is investigating a nutritional supplement called elénzia CONTROL® to see if it helps with weight management. It's for adults aged 25-65 who are overweight or obese. The study has two main groups: people who have never used certain weight-loss medications (called GLP-1s) and people who recently stopped using them. Researchers want to find out if taking elénzia CONTROL® for 16 weeks can help reduce body weight for those who haven't used GLP-1s, or help prevent weight regain for those who have stopped. They'll compare it to a dummy pill (placebo) and also look at things like appetite, mood, energy, and waist size.

What is this study about?

This research study is looking into a new nutritional supplement called elénzia CONTROL®. Its main goal is to see if this supplement can help adults manage their weight. We know that maintaining a healthy weight can be challenging, and this study aims to explore if elénzia CONTROL® offers support.

The study is specifically designed for two different groups of people. One group includes adults who have never taken a type of weight-loss medication called GLP-1s. The other group involves adults who have recently stopped taking GLP-1 medications. These medications are sometimes used for weight loss, but people can often regain weight after stopping them. This study wants to see if elénzia CONTROL® can help prevent that weight regain.

Over 16 weeks, participants will take the supplement, and researchers will carefully check if it helps reduce body weight for those who haven't used GLP-1s, or helps maintain weight for those who have stopped them. They'll also look at other important factors like appetite, sugar cravings, mood, energy levels, and how it might affect your overall quality of life and waist measurement. This is the first time the full elénzia CONTROL® supplement has been tested in a proper clinical trial like this.

Key takeaways

  • This study tests a supplement for weight management.
  • It’s for adults aged 25-65, either new to GLP-1 meds or recently stopped them.
  • Participants take capsules daily for 16 weeks and use a mobile app.
  • It aims to see if the supplement helps reduce weight or prevent weight regain.
  • You might receive the active supplement or a dummy pill (placebo).

Who may be eligible?

To join this study, you need to be an adult aged between 25 and 65 years old. You must also fit into one of two groups:

* **Group 1 (Never used GLP-1s):** You must not have used GLP-1 weight-loss medications before, and your Body Mass Index (BMI) should be 27 or higher, but less than 40. Your BMI is a measure of your weight in relation to your height. * **Group 2 (Stopped GLP-1s):** You must have recently stopped using GLP-1 weight-loss medications. You should have been on a stable dose for at least 6 months and lost at least 10% of your body weight before stopping. Your BMI should be less than 40 (there's no lower limit for this group).

You can't join if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you currently smoke or use nicotine products. You also can't take part if you've ever used elénzia CONTROL® before, or if you're allergic to any of its ingredients like citrus or certain plant extracts. There are also some specific medications that would prevent you from taking part, including insulin or some diabetes drugs, so it's important to discuss all your current medicines with the study team.

Could this study suit you?

Answer these quick questions to see if you may be eligible. This is a guide only — the research team makes the final call.

  1. Are you between 25 and 65 years old?
  2. Have you never used GLP-1 weight-loss medications AND is your BMI between 27 and less than 40?
  3. OR, have you recently stopped GLP-1 medications, been on them for at least 6 months, and lost 10% of your body weight before stopping (with a BMI less than 40)?
  4. Are you able to use a smartphone app and have your own weighing scales and internet access?
  5. Are you NOT pregnant or breastfeeding, and do you NOT currently smoke or use nicotine products?
  6. Are you NOT allergic to any ingredients in elénzia CONTROL® and not taking certain specific medications (like insulin)?
Answer every question to see your result.

What does participation involve?

If you decide to take part, you'll be asked to take two capsules of either elénzia CONTROL® or a dummy pill (placebo) once a day for 16 weeks. You should take them about 30 minutes before your largest meal.

You'll use a mobile app to help with the study. This app will be used to record when you've taken your capsules, fill out some questionnaires about how you're feeling, and report your body weight and waist size regularly throughout the study. You'll need a compatible smartphone, reliable internet, and your own home weighing scales. The study involves no in-person visits.

Potential risks and benefits

Taking part in any study has potential benefits and risks. You might not directly benefit from taking elénzia CONTROL®, as it might not work for you, or you could be given the dummy pill. However, your participation will help researchers learn more about weight management, which could help others in the future. There might be some side effects from the supplement, or you might find the tasks like using the app or measuring yourself a bit time-consuming. You are free to withdraw from the study at any time, for any reason, without it affecting your medical care.

Common questions

What is a GLP-1 medication?

GLP-1 medications are a type of medicine sometimes used to help people manage their weight or blood sugar, often given as an injection.

What is a placebo?

A placebo is a dummy pill or treatment that looks exactly like the real thing but contains no active ingredients. It helps researchers compare effects fairly.

How long will I be in the study?

You will be asked to take the capsules and provide information for 16 weeks, which is about 4 months.

Do I need to visit a clinic?

No, this study is done remotely. You'll use a mobile app and your own scales from home, so there are no clinic visits.

What if I'm on other medications?

It's very important to tell the study team about all medications you take, as some might prevent you from joining due to safety reasons.
